Entry in the Waterloo-Strathmore Mobile Challenge constitutes your acceptance of these official rules and regulations. In order to enter the challenge you must agree to these terms and conditions. Please read these terms and conditions carefully to ensure you understand and agree to them. These terms and conditions constitute a legal agreement between you and Strathmore University and University of Waterloo Mobile Technology Challenge.

Duration of Competition
The challenge will last for a duration of seven months.
Who is eligible to participate?
This challenge is open to all Kenyans on condition that each team has at least two students, currently registered at an East African university.
Employees, faculty and contractors of Strathmore University and the University of Waterloo are not eligible to participate and receive challenge awards.
Registration
Registration opens on October 30, 2014 and closes on December 31. Registration and acceptance of these terms and conditions must be completed before a team can start the challenge. All participants must complete the challenge application form, found here.
Judges
Strathmore University and the University of Waterloo are responsible for coordinating the challenge evaluation. The two institutions will ensure there are adequate competent judges.
Procedure of the Challenge Process
Teams from Kenyan Universities are to submit their registration form and brief description of the agricultural problem they believe can be alleviated by a mobile-based solution via the online registration form. Teams will be informed if they have been accepted into the competition challenge by January 13, 2015 and the challenge officially begins on January 15, 2015 with the first of three rounds of video pitches administered by University of Waterloo’s Virtual Incubation Program (VIP).
Disqualification
The organizers reserve the right to permanently disqualify from the Challenge any entrant or team who violate the rules or are found to be cheating, submitting false information or tampering with the challenge process.
Prizes
Strathmore University and the University of Waterlo will award one of each prize to the teams that place first, second and third.
1st Prize: The winning team will win a fully paid trip to Waterloo, Ontario Canada to give the winning team the opportunity of observing the Waterloo eco-system of venture creation and to meet individuals and groups that can further assist in developing their idea (subject to visa issuance) A complete agenda of this visit will be made available in February 2015.
2nd Prize: One team will be offered a chance to participate in the highly competitive Enterprise Development Program offered by the Strathmore Enterprise Development Centre. This training package is worth Kshs 480,000. Team members will have the chance of meeting seasoned entrepreneurs and trainers which will enable the team to practically implement their business model and grow their enterprise.
Other Prizes: Five teams will have a chance to work at the @iLabAfrica incubator at Strathmore University from November 2014 - February 2015.
Who owns the Intellectual Property (IP)?
Simply put, you do! Any member of a team who contributes to the project will be considered an owner of the project.
Strathmore University and the University of Waterloo do not have ANY vested interest or ownership in the innovations created by the teams during the challenge.
Legal advice on intellectual property will be the responsibility of the team. Strathmore University and the University of Waterloo will not get involved in intellectual property issues.
Organization of the Competition
The organizers of the Strathmore University and University of Waterloo Mobile Technology Challenge reserve the right in their sole and absolute discretion and without prior notice to adjust any of the rules, dates, timeframes stipulated in the Challenge Rules and Regulations to the extent necessary in light of any circumstances which, in the opinion of the organizers in their sole and absolute discretion, affect the proper administration of the Challenge as contemplated in the Challenge Rules and Regulations.
